Next

This project came from a desire to create something I want to use- an app that I would want to use to protect myself when I am inside and away from my vehicle. Throughout the design process I continued to ask myself what the purpose of this application was and I challenged myself to only include necessary components. By creating my own constraints regarding type size, fonts, information hierarchy, features, colors, and icons, I pushed my abilities to think modestly and about the user. This design-led process was eye opening and allowed me to flex my design and strategy skills. Although this project will not be developed, it was a helpful exercise to challenge my beliefs and competence in experience design. I plan to use these new abilities and thought processes on all projects going forward and hope to teach other designers to push past boundaries our partners, industries, and societies place on us and create something we’re proud of and excited to use. Mastering these skills will allow designers to create effortless, purposeful products.
